Idioms and proverbs
Some English idioms and proverbs along with Nepali equivalents or near equivalents are listed below.
- A bad men is better than a bad name.(बदनाम भन्दा वध भलो)
- A bad man quarrels with his tools.(नाच्न नजान्ने आँगन टेढो)
- A begger cannot be bankrupt.(इदम् भ्रष्टम्, उदम् भ्रष्टम्)
- A bird in hand is worth two in bush.(मामा नै नहुनु भन्दा कानो मामा नै निको)
- A blind man cannot be judged of colours. (कानो गोरुलाई औँसी न पुर्ने)
- A burnt child dreads the fire.(अगुल्टोले हानेको कुकुर बिजुली चम्कदा तर्सन्छ)
- A carpenter is known by his chips.(ओठ चल्यो, कुरो बुझ्यो)
